Lindsey Graham is the senator from South Carolina.He is a republican senator and was elected to the Senate in 2002. He is known for advocating strong national defense, supporting the military and for his advocacy of United States leadership in world affairs.
Birth and family status of Lindsey Graham: Graham was born on July 9, 1955, in Central, South Carolina. His parents, who owned a restaurant, died when Graham was 21. He now lives in Seneca.
School and college life of Lindsey Graham: Graham completed his high school from DW Daniel High School and joined the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Psychology and School of Law, USC with a Juris Doctor.
Work experience of Lindsey Graham: Immediately after graduating, Graham started serving in the military. He briefly worked as a Judge Advocate in the US Air Force and then was sent to Europe as a military prosecutor and defense attorney. In 1989, Graham returned to South Carolina, left active duty and joined the South Carolina Air National Guard. He was recalled to active duty during the Gulf War (1990-1991) where he served as a Judge Advocate. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1998 and to Colonel in 2004. Later he served in Iraq and also in Afghanistan during the 2009 Senate recess. Graham also worked in private law practice for a brief time.
Political career of Lindsey Graham: Graham was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1992. He was then re-elected three times- in 1994, 1996 and 2000. In 2002, Lindsey was elected to the US Senate and re-elected twice, in 2008 and 2014.
Achievements of Lindsey Graham: Graham alongside three other senators introduced a bill that closed a loophole related to gun control. He is a co-sponsor of the Healthy Americans Act. He has been supporting the green economy, clean air and energy independence meanwhile also advocating for increasing nuclear power and regulating the world’s carbon market.
